I am Elaine Ashley. I am a Specialist in Family Law certified by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization, and a Family Financial Mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. I am a trained Collaborative Divorce Professional. I am a BV Distinguished Peer Rated Lawyer at Martindale Hubbell and am included in the 2019 Best Lawyers in America Family Law Section. I focus my practice exclusively on helping families, whether through the turmoil of divorce, or providing comfort and security for the future through Estate Planning.
I received my law degree from North Carolina Central University in 1998. Before law, I pursued music. I received my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and hold a Masters of Music from Southern Methodist University.

EXPERIENCE & COMITTMENT
I am a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the 18th Judicial District Bar, and the Greensboro Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, and the Guilford County Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. I am a member of the Guilford American Inns of Court, which dedicated to promoting the highest levels of professionalism in the practice of law. I am a member of the Triad Collaborative Law Group, which promotes alternative methods of dispute resolution for divorcing couples through the collaborative divorce method.
I have held leadership roles in the Guilford Bar Association Family Law Section and the Guilford Chapter of the Association of Women Attorneys. I served as a preceptor with the Elon University School of Law beginning with the arrival of the inaugural class in the fall of 2005, and served in that position for several years. Since 2008, my partner Michele and I participate annually in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, historically a two day, 39 mile charitable event. I've attended the Walk in Charlotte, New York City, Santa Barbara, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. In 2018, we completed the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer in Atlanta, encompassing 60 miles. Cumulatively, Michele and I have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the fight.
